DSLR or Point-and-Shoots
The rule of thumb is not to buy a digital camera that is beyond what you really need. One difference between digital SRL and point-and-shoot is a size. Keep in mind that the DSLR camera is usually bigger and heavier. Besides, DSLR tends to be harder to clean and use. So, to be able to operate the DSLR, you should have some experience level. However, if you really want to learn and to be a better photographer, that is another story.
